Badly Flooded areas as of 18.20

These are the areas worst affected by flooding as reported to us so far. More as we get them.

Swords Rd before Santry Ave outbound at the Swiss Cottage. Customers of the Omni Park shopping centre are having difficulty exiting the carpark as a result.

Clanbrassil St Outbound at Kevin St Junction

M50 between J13 Dundrum and J12 Firhouse

Shelbourne Road at junction of Lansdowne Road

Swords Road – Just after Collins Ave

East Road off Sherriff St

Beresford Place Inbound

Russell St at Croke Park

Clontarf Rd at The Yacht and Castle Avenue. Seafield Ave is impassable onto Clontarf Road. Vernon Avenue badly flooded also. Very poor visibility.

Howth Road at Lawrence Road junction

Church Ave in Ringsend

Sean Moore Roundabout

Stockhole Lane in Cloghran flooding in both directions

Worlds Worst Junctions?

This actually gives me the fear looking at in. John Neary aptly described it as the inception of roundabouts. A roundabout within a roundabout within a roundabout. The worst part of this is that they made two more.

How about this little beauty in Shanghai, not for the faint hearted or the learner driver!

No post on crazy junctions would be complete with out the Arc de Triumph, Paris (Place Charles de Gaulle) Which haven driven through it with 2 years of my life two dogs and an unhappy girlfriend it is an absolute free for all. Brush up on your French Swear words they are as essential as an indicator here.

Those of you who can remember the old M50 before the improvements might recognise this kind of snarl up. Although this particular shot is from Italy during a strike.

Sao Paulo in Brazil has legendary traffic jams and junctions this is just a taster.

back to Europe for this one in Bucharest

Clontarf Half Marathon

For you runners out there things seem to be getting pretty busy.

This weekend a bunch of ye will be taking part in the Clontarf Half Marathon on Saturday July 13th.

The Half Marathon starts at 10 Am at Clontarf and Alfie Byrne Rd Junction, runners will run directly up the Promenade along Clontarf Road keeping to the walking path (beside the water). They will also be able to run on the grass beside the path where possible. This path takes them up to the Bull Island Bridge. They will then turn right and cross the bridge and proceed straight onto the beach.

From here they will continue along the sand to Dollymount. At Dollymount they will rejoin the road and run up  the causeway to James Larkin Road. Turning right onto the cycle and walk paths they will continue along the promenade as far as the Kilbarrack Road. They turn around here. This is a ¼ Marathon distance.

The return leg follows the same route.

As the runners will spend the majority of their time off the road the disruptions should be fairly minor, but we advise that you avoid the area until about half 1.

Traffic Restriction For Dublin This Weekend

There's a few things on around the city this weekend that will take it's tole on journey times and your patience.

First Up we have the extremely popular World Street Performers in Merrion Square.

As a result:

Merrion Square West, East & South, Merrion Street Upper, Fitzwilliam Street Lower and Mount Street Upper (from Merrion Square to James’s Street East) from Midnight on Saturday 13th July, 2013 to Midnight on Sunday 14th July.

Diversion will be in place but a simple rule will be to avoid the area.

It's the Leinster Football Final on Sunday in Croke Park and it's an early start.

Stiles Opening at 11 AM with the minor match between Kildare and Westmeath at 12 and the senior game at 2 between Dublin and Meath.

At least 60,000 people are expected to attend the games this will put a huge number of cars on the roads from early Sunday morning until at least 5 pm.

The noraml garda cordon will be in place around Croke park from 10 AM. Our advice avoid driving around Drumcondra and the surrounding area on Sunday morning and early afternoon.
