Dundrum and Milltown Delays - Classon Bridge Closed

Classon Bridge by the Dropping Well Pub is closed for works until the 18th of August. Diversions are via Orwell Rd and Dundrum Rd.

This is causing issues along Dundrum Rd from Milltown and along Orwell Park and Orwell Rd.

Newlands Cross Layout

So there's been a lot about the new layout on the N7 over the weekend and this morning.

What has happened is that the road now splits in two just after the Green Isle Hotel.

For access to the Fonthill Rd, Luas & M50 Northbound, you need to stay left.

Belgard Rd & M50 Southbound stay right.

For City Centre you can use both. However you are better off staying left as there are two lanes on the left and only one on the right for the city.

The bus lane has been suspended, so people can use the bus lane. However the road markings are still in place which causing some confusion. These markings will be removed tonight.

The extra issue is that people using the right split are merging into one lane for the M50 South and City centre even through the markings clearly state that the right lane is only for Belgard Rd.

This morning there were delays of about 30 minutes to clear Newlands Cross inbound. Hopefully things will improve tomorrow now that people have came through it once.

Significant changes to the N7 Inbound at Newlands Cross

From Sunday there will be changes to the N7 inbound carriageway. Motorists travelling on the N7 Naas Road towards the city will encounter a change in layout on the approach to the Newlands Cross junction, immediately after the Green Isle Hotel.

The existing lanes will split either side of the works for the new flyover. The two lanes to the left will cater for N7 city bound traffic, M50 bound traffic as well as Boot Road, Fonthill Road and local business traffic at Newlands Cross. The two lanes to the right will cater for N7 city bound traffic and Belgard Road traffic.

Motorists are urged to take great caution on the approach to Newlands Cross and to obey the 60km/hr speed limit which is in place.

There is no change to the N7 outbound carriageway layout.

Major Delays on the N7

The N7 is down to one lane due to a serious incident on the N7 outbound just after City West. There are currently delays on the N7 from the Longmile Rd, that's just under a 10 KM traffic jam and will take an hour to clear.

Citywest has ground to halt and if possible drivers should also avoid the area.

The quickest alternative is to take the N4 outbound to J4, then the R120, rejoining the N7 at J4 Rathcoole. Drivers can also take the the N81 and rejoin the N7 via Saggart however, Saggart village is taking 15 minutes to clear and the N81 is busy around the stadium.

Statement by Dublin City Council - Garth Brooks Concerts, Croke Park July 2014

Dublin City Council granted an Event Licence in respect of three Garth Brooks concerts to be held on Friday 25 July, Saturday 26 July and Sunday 27 July 2014. A condition of the Licence requires that an updated Event Management Plan be submitted by the promoter, which outlines any required changes associated with the granting of the three concerts under the Licence, including an updated production and works schedule. The updated Plan must be approved by the City Council.

Following a meeting this morning between Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions and Owen Keegan, Chief Executive of Dublin City Council, the City Council has agreed to a proposal from Aiken Promotions designed to break the impasse that has arisen. Under the proposal the City Council will consider an updated Event Management Plan, to be submitted in accordance with the Licence, whereby the three concerts will proceed but the Saturday and Sunday concerts will start earlier to facilitate separate matinee audiences on these two days. This will allow everybody who bought a ticket to see Garth Brooks

The Council is satisfied that the event licensing procedure was applied correctly in this particular case by the City Council and that the decision reached was appropriate and balanced having regard to all the competing interests.

However, in response to the disappointment of ticket holders who purchased tickets in good faith for the cancelled Monday and Tuesday concerts and in light of concerns that these ticket holders could turn up on the other days creating security and public safety concerns the Council has agreed, following consultation with An Garda Siochana, to consider a revised Event Management Plan prepared on the basis outlined above.

Love Is in the airwaves!

This is a follow up on our search for a beautiful mystery taxi driver who caught the fancy of one of our listeners.

Well a taxi driver has been in touch with us and he thinks he is the man we are looking for. He is single and is interested.

He did explain that as a taxi driver he feels it is wrong to ask a passenger out, BUT, they did on very well and wants to hear more about how our listener hurt her leg.

We've asked him a couple of questions only he would know about their conversation.

Lets hope he's our man!

Do you believe in true love? Do you know this taxi driver?

Today we received an unusual request on our Facebook page:

Hi Guys, this is a little odd but yesterday (Monday 07/07/14) i was in Dublin and got a taxi from outside Connolly Station to St James Gate at around 10.40am. The taxi was a red car (possibly a Toyota).

Anyhow the taxi driver was BEAUTIFUL and I clocked his name on his ID badge as something like Daire, Darin or Dealglan and his surname began with B - In my nerves for my meeting etc i have forgotten his name and stupidly didn't get a taxi receipt.

We swapped stories and I want to find him and see if he would like to go for pint, i don't even know if he is single so this could be awkward but.....!

I know he has crazy friends and had lost his phone and car keys this weekend and had the "fear of life" a bit like myself!

I would really appreciate if you guys could help me trace him by reading this out on air. I'd also appreciate if you described me rather than give out my name- I was wearing a black suit with a green blouse, dark hair and was telling him about my "sore leg" thanks.

Well who are we to not at least try and bring two people together, we're thinking first Live Drive marriage, a marriage made in FM if you will.

So if you are this mystery person or know someone who is single, drives a taxi and lost his phone and car keys over the weekend, then get in touch with the show and we will put you in touch with the girl with the sore leg. Tweet us via @LiveDrive email livedrive@dublincityfm.com or text 0871791032
