(27th January - 12th February)
From time to time we can all feel anxious and stressed dealing with the challenges and expectations of modern life. Taking the time to focus on our emotional and mental health and well being can help us in developing the resources to deal with the demands we face. Our “Mind Yourself” programme will include talks, workshops and classes aimed at encouraging us to take time for ourselves, maybe try something new and achieve a deeper sense of well being. Events will run from the 27th of January to the 12th of February and topics covered will include mindfulness, meditation, nutrition, health, massage and yoga.
During the programme we will be highlighting our relevant book stock including our Bibliotherapy collection, ‘The Power of Words’. This collection consists of 58 titles covering many aspects of mental health, including depression, anxiety, panic, eating disorders, stress and low self-esteem. The books have been selected and reviewed by psychologists and GPs and are available to borrow in your local library. As part of the programme John Sharry, one of the Irish authors featured on the list, will give a talk in the Central Library on positive psychology and how we can all develop a more positive and proactive approach to our mental health and well being.
Other speakers include Margaret Ford, Noreen Farrell, John Doherty, Sarah Keogh, Helen Sherlock and Eimear Murphy.
All talks, workshops and classes are open to all and are free of charge. Booking may be required at the relevant library.
