Closure of Londonbridge Rd and Bath Ave


From Monday 8th April to Saturday 20th July Londonbridge Road and Bath Avenue will be closed fo flood alleviation works on the Dodder Estuary.

The works include:

Removal of existing infill parapet walls on Londonbridge

Excavations into the bridge to construct new foundations

Construction of new reinforced parapet walls with recycling of existing parapet stone as facing material

Raising the upstream parapet by 750mm (500mm in glass)

Raising downstream parapet by 250mm

Installing wing walls to match in with existing new flood defences

Strengthening of existing bridge arches

Carrying out general maintenance on bridge

Road and footpath reinstatement

Diversions of existing services within the bridge

Diversions

Traffic on Haddington Rd / Shelbourne Rd/ Grand Canal St Upper wishing to travel on Bath Ave to Church Ave /Irishtown Rd /Tritonville Rd, will be diverted via South Lotts Rd and Bridge St.

Traffic on Church Avenue / Tritonville Road wishing to travel on Londonbridge Rd to Haddington Rd / Shelbourne Rd/ Grand Canal St Upper, will be diverted via Irishtown Rd, Bridge St and South Lotts Rd.

Traffic on Irishtown Rd wishing to travel on Londonbridge Rd to Haddington Rd / Shelbourne Rd/ Grand Canal St Upper, will be diverted via Tritonville Ave, Newbridge Ave, Herbert Rd and Landsdowne Rd.

Local vehicular access will be maintained on Bath Ave and Londonbridge Rd.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on one side of the bridge.

Cyclists are asked to dismount and walk across the pedestrian access.

Londonbridge Road and Bath Avenue will be closed to through traffic
