Traffic Restrictions For @ForbiddenFFest

This shouldn't have a big effect on local traffic as festival goers take public transport to and from the festival. however Bloom will have an impact on the area and this will delay music lovers journeys to the festival.

Don't drive as there will be ‘no parking available for the public’ at or in the vicinity of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Cars will be clamped or removed if parked in the vicinity.

As the festival is well serviced by Dublin Bus, Luas and Irish rail public transport is the best way to get to and from the event.

Road Closures

1. Military Road will be closed  from the junction with Johns Road West from 1pm until event is over, and also the junction with Kilmainham Lane/Bow Lane West for the same periods. Some Disabled Access vehicles, and work vehicles seeking access to the East Gate will be facilitated access through this junction, subject to co-ordination of traffic movements with Gardaí in that Sector.

2 Military Road will be available for use by Dublin Bus during all times of the events each day. This will also be available for use by emergency vehicles.

3 Military Road will remain open to all traffic travelling outbound towards St. John’s Road West only, subject to co-ordination of traffic movements with Gardaí.

4 Kilmainham Lane will be restricted to one-way traffic outbound only from 1pm each day during these events. Both road closures will be enforced by Gardaí.

The RHK museum will be open as normal during these events but without parking for persons attending museum. This will have to be monitored by Gardai working in vicinity of the East gate.

Disabled Parking

Cars displaying a disability badge only will be permitted to enter the venue by the East gate.

Pedestrians

Pedestrian access and exit throughout the event via East Gate to Military Road only, while the West Gate will be utilised as the Emergency Access point to venue, but will be opened for pedestrian exit at end of event. Barriers will be erected at the West Gate to ensure the safety of pedestrians exiting the event.

Tickets will be provisionally checked at East gate

Taxis

A “drop and go” system will be in operation for taxis on Johns Road West in the vicinity of Heuston Station and on Kilmainham Lane at junction with Irwin Street. A taxi waiting area will be facilitated along St Johns Road West (Inbound) for passenger pick up or waiting for patrons leaving through the East Gate after the event. There will be no taxi ranks or permitted pick up points on St John’s Road West (Outbound), Con Colbert Road, South Circular Road, Military Road, Kilmainham Lane, Bow Lane West or St Johns Road West (Outbound). No taxi access will be permitted at any time onto Military Road during the event on any day until road closures are lifted.

Luas

Emergency Route

The West Gate will act as the dedicated Emergency Route.

Main Car Park

There will be no parking for the public attending concerts in the ground of the RHK. Car parking is available for member’s vehicles at west end of RHK car park, immediately to rear of Kilmainham Station, entering through East Gate.

East Gate Entrance

All authorised vehicles entering the RHK will use this gate i.e. buses and wheelchair.

All traffic exiting the RHK will leave via the East Gate when safe to do so.

Kilmainham Lane/SCR Junction

For the duration of these events, Kilmainham Lane will be restricted to a one-way traffic flow system, outbound only, with no entry for vehicles from SCR. When implemented this rule will be rigorously enforced for all vehicles, including Gardai, taxis, residents and motor cyclists.

Road Closures after Event:

From approx 10.30pm on both 31st May and 1st June 2014 the following road closures will come into place for the purpose of crowd safety in terms of patrons leaving the RHK concert event.

• St John’s Road West (Outbound) will be closed for all traffic including taxi’s and public transport vehicles, and will divert all traffic onto Heuston Bridge towards Parkgate Street and Conyngham Road. Barriers will be put in place along the central median of St Johns Road West to prevent pedestrian access across inbound carriageway other than at junction of Military Road, which will be controlled by Gardai to permit passage of traffic inbound when necessary.

• Bow Lane West will be closed to all outbound traffic from James Street including taxis and all traffic will be diverted outbound along James Street. This will effectively prevent taxi issues arising within the cordon while patrons are leaving the area.

• South Circular Road (Outbound) will be closed temporarily at junction with Emmet Road, and traffic diverted left onto Emmet Road or right onto Old Kilmainham for duration of closure. Traffic inbound along Emmet Road will not be allowed turn left onto South Circular Road, but diverted inbound towards City Centre.
